How it works
FootingTakeoff is not a black box that spits out a number. Every measurement is drawn on your plan so you can see exactly what was counted, what was excluded, and why.
PDF permit set or a phone photo of the paper plan. The system locates the foundation page, reads the dimension strings, the wall schedule, and any handwritten margin notes.
The measured takeoff is drawn directly on the plan: green labels on runs the system is confident about, red flags with reasoning on anything unusual — an unclear dimension, an ambiguous wall type, a conflicting margin note. You check the flags, not the whole plan.
Your rates are stored once: $/LF base, $/LF with rebar, flat $ per pad. Every takeoff comes back as invoice line items — 312 LF @ $3.00, 4 pads @ $50 — totaled and dated.
| Element | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Outer perimeter footings | Measured out-to-out along the full perimeter chain |
| Interior foundation-wall footings | Measured per run and included in the LF total |
| Concrete support pads | Detected, counted, and priced per pad |
| Rebar call-outs | Read from plan notes; switches the LF rate to your rebar rate |
| Non-scope items (wood-frame bearing strips, window wells) | Excluded by default, listed separately so nothing is hidden |
